Eligibility & Scholarship Requirements

Who is eligible to apply?

Scholarships are available to eligible regular admit Porterville College students, including continuing students and students transferring to a four-year college or university.

Applicants must:

  • Complete at least 12 units at Porterville College by the end of the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 by the end of the Fall 2026 semester.

Students attending through dual or concurrent enrollment are considered special admit students and are not currently eligible. Individual scholarships may have additional requirements.

Do I need to complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application to apply?

You may submit a scholarship application without a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) on file. However, without that information, we cannot determine your financial need, which may affect your eligibility for scholarships that require financial need.

Not all scholarships use financial need as a selection criterion.

Can I apply if I plan to transfer to a four-year college or university?

Yes. Scholarships are available for eligible students continuing at Porterville College and eligible students transferring to a four-year college or university. Each scholarship has its own requirements.

Does meeting the minimum eligibility requirements guarantee a scholarship?

No. Meeting the minimum requirements allows you to be considered but does not guarantee an award. Scholarships are competitive, and individual awards have different selection criteria.

TRANSCRIPTS

Porterville College transcripts will be used to verify eligibility. If you would like coursework from another college or university considered, include an unofficial transcript from that institution with your application.

Financial Need

You may apply without a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA) on file. However, without this information, we cannot determine financial need. The financial need field will remain blank and will be treated as no demonstrated financial need.

Not all scholarships use financial need as a selection criterion. We encourage you to complete a FAFSA or CADAA so financial need can be considered for scholarships that include it.

Reference Letters

Reference letters are optional for the general scholarship application. You may upload a reference letter if you wish.

Some individual scholarships require a reference letter at the donor’s request. Review and complete any additional requirements for those scholarships.
